Happy New Year Mates-
Ice fishing has been pretty good as of late. Strawhead, Bonehead, BJ and I have been out quite a bit coming home with a few perch everyday. If you like like throwing back smaller quite a few smaller ones, mixed with some keepers in there, then now would be a great time to get out. Ice conditions have been deteriorating a little with the warm spell, but as of yesterday there was still around 5 inches of ice out there. Hopefully this snow storm we are expecting won't dump too much on the lakes and insulate so good that, with the up coming cold spell, it won't inhibit ice production. Hopefully soon the ice starts getting significant enough to start driving on so we can start doing some sturgeon scouting. I personally don't want to have to drive 4-wheelers out there to go spearing, even though I would bite the bullet and do it, I've grown comfortable with the nice amenities a pick-up has to offer. That's all the news I have at the moment. Good luck in all of your upcoming outdoor adventure, and if you're heading to the frozen water please be safe!
