Was at the cabin all day today. Our deer are in TROUBLE. There is 27 inches of snow yet. Now there is a good crust on the snow. The predators are going to have a big advantage. No deer tracks around ours.  Only fresh track of any kind was a bobcat. The winter severity index for our area was 121 at the end of Feb. Below zero lows the last 2 nights. 2 more below zero nights to follow. 2 severe winters in a row for our area. Looks like we'll have to go into video mode instead of harvest mode. We really need to warm up in a hurry!!!

Steve -I thought our winter was bad. I severity index was bad at 56! Hoefully you guys have some deer left after the thaw! I hope you don't have too many coyotes or wolves in your area!
